All items will be sold online and facilitated through Matthews Auctioneers.

All bidders must register on their website to bid on items.

Auction Items will begin closing Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 7:00 PM
Preview Day is April 8, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Removal dates are April 10, 2026 and April 13, 2026 through April 17, 2026

Appointment only pick up! Pick up must be scheduled at least twenty four (24) hours in advance for the above dates.

Call the Virginia Tech Surplus Department at 540-231-5660 for appointments or questions.

Pickup does not start until Friday, April 10, 2026, no exceptions.

Titles will be made out in the name you register under on the bidder’s registration.

  • All sales are final. No mention of defect or damage does not mean there isn’t any. Bid accordingly.
  • All purchases must be paid in full online per terms set forth by Matthews Auctioneers. Failure to pay for merchandise after the close of the auction will result in the loss of the property and debarment from purchasing Virginia Tech property.
  • Tax exempt forms must be presented before payment, no exceptions. Tax will not be removed from purchase for failure to present form prior to payment.
  • The Virginia Conflict of Interest Act applies to this auction.

Ownership of items revert back to Virginia Tech at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026 after which Surplus Property reserves the right to retain the purchase price and re-sell the property a second time, keeping any proceeds obtained.

  • There are no expressed or implied warranties on any items listed.
  • VT Surplus Property will offer for sale at public auction the items listed on an “As Is/Where Is” basis on the date at the location stated above, subject to the conditions stated.
  • All items are sold as is/where is. Condition of all property is unknown, and is offered without warranty, guarantee, nor merchantability, neither expressed, written, or implied.
  • Purchaser assumes all liability for property after award is made. VT Surplus Property will exercise its usual care for property up to the time of removal but will not be responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever.
  • Bids will normally be accepted on an item basis; however, VT Surplus Property reserves the right to accept bids on group(s) of items if it is deemed advisable. VT Surplus Property reserves the right to sell to the highest bidder on each item or group of items or to withdraw any item before or during the auction. VT Surplus Property reserves the right to accept or reject; to add or withdraw any or all offers on all items listed.
