Auction Notice

Online Public Auction - August 13, 2026

All items will be sold online and facilitated through Matthews Auctioneers.

All bidders must register on their website to bid on items. All payments will be made online.

Backpacks, Purses, Bags, and Satchels are not allowed inside.

Auction items will begin closing Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

Preview Day is Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

All terms and conditions are posted on the Matthews Auctioneers website and must be accepted before registration and bidding.

Item Pickup

Regular Pickup, no appointment needed on the following days from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Pickup does not start until Saturday, August 15, no exceptions.

  • Monday, August 17, 2026
  • Tuesday, August 18, 2026

Late Pickup, appointment required, on the following days from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A $5.00 (five dollars) fee per item, per day will apply.

  • Thursday, August 20, 2026
  • Friday, August 21, 2026

Last Pickup Day is Friday, August 21, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Ownership of items reverts to Virginia Tech at 4:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026, after which Surplus Property reserves the right to retain the purchase price and sell the property a second time, keeping any proceeds obtained.

All sales are final. No mention of defect or damage does not mean there isn’t any, please bid accordingly.

All purchases must be paid in full online per terms set forth by Matthews Auctioneers. Failure to pay for merchandise after close of the auction will result in the loss of the property and debarment from purchasing Virginia Tech property.

Tax exempt forms must be presented before payment, no exceptions. Tax will not be removed from purchase for failure to present form prior to payment.

The Virginia Conflict of Interest Act applies to this auction.

Titles will be issued using the name you provided when you registered as a bidder.

  • There are no expressed or implied warranties on any items listed. All items are sold as is/where is.
  • Virginia Tech Surplus Property will offer for sale at public auction the items listed on the date stated above, subject to the conditions stated.
  • The condition of all property is not known. The property is sold as is. There is no warranty or guarantee of any kind, written or spoken.
  • The buyer is responsible for the property after it is awarded. Surplus Property will take normal care of the property until it is removed. However, Surplus Property is not responsible for any loss or damage.
  • Bids are usually accepted for each item separately. However, Surplus Property may choose to accept bids for groups of items if needed. Surplus Property may sell to the highest bidder for each item or group or may remove any item at any time before or during the auction. Surplus Property also has the right to accept, reject, add, or withdraw any offer for any listed item.
